I’ve already written a little post on your puppy and how it can make quite a natural mess when you’re all tucked up in bed, so you might want to go and read it before you start this one. This post will continue talking about how messy your puppy is and promote tolerance and understanding of the puppy rather than punishing its behaviour…
Now it isn’t always poo and urine that you will be greeted with when you come downstairs in the morning, there are many more ways that a puppy can make a mess and they will certainly show you a few i haven’t yet come across too! That’s the beauty of owning a puppy (and it should be seen as a beauty), they’ll always surprise you because they are all very different indeed.
However, despite their diversity there are many basic handling techniques that can apply to all puppies. The next challenge to present it self to you will more than likely be something to do with the path of destruction your puppy leaves in its wake. This is not, by any means, a way for your puppy to annoy you. Just look at the beast and tell yourself that it’s just a baby and this should resolve any issues you’re having (if you still want to kill it then you have a personal problem and the dog should be taken away from you as quickly as possible).
These issues will vary considerably, and i’ll talk a little more about them next time, but the basic principal to follow here is the fact that the puppy doesn’t know what to do until it is shown, and there are still a certain amount of innate instincts that a puppy will display through no fault of its own. Read next week!
