Of course you do, but do you also know that you don’t have to give them what you eat? When you give your dog or puppy what you eat you could actually be harming them. Our food contains lots of fat and salt that would not usually be consumed by a dog were it to feed itself. Now i know that we are a long way from our dogs looking out for themselves (they’re not cats after all) but their genetic make-up is still the same. They still have the same internal organs and their digestive systems should work in the same way.
So what most of us fundementally need to understand is that dogs are not human! They do not need to eat fried chicken and chips, or cakes or crisps or even gravy and vegatables. What you dog needs is a balanced, and albeit pretty tasteless, dried food. When companies spend an awful lot of time concentrating on the taste and texture of food for pets they fail to remember one important thing. An animal does not really relish any particular taste, and they only eat when they are hungry. It is us that socialise our pets eating habits and give them chronic heart conditions and bad teeth.
