Types of dogs: Guide to buying and selling Dogs

There are various types of dogs that you should learn first before your deal with buying and selling of puppies. Knowing these types would help you organize your referrals and suggestions to your customers, to ensure that the perfect type would practically benefit and content them.

Terrier Dogs

Originally, Terrier Dogs were first bred to hunt ferrets, mice, rats and even foxes. These types of dogs are small but energetic. They are also distinguished with their determined temperaments.

Terriers have the tendencies to dig, bark and frighten preys. They are persistent and they are willing to fight even bigger opponents. Terriers are excellent for hunting rats but they are not often nice to young children or other pets.

Generally, Toy dogs are easily domesticated even without socialization. During their puppy stage, Toy dogs tend to be protective of their homes and owners that they become persistent with their yapping or barking habits.

Examples of the dogs that belong to this group are the Pomeranian, Chihuahua, Shih Tzu, Maltese terrier, and Poodles.

Non-Sporting Dogs

Non-sporting dogs vary sizes, coats, traits, appearances, and temperaments. In the old times, these dogs were bred to perform in small-game hunting and in circuses. Yet over the time, these tasks have been altered and have been diversified. Dalmatians, Poodles, Chinese Shar-peis, Chow Chows, and Bichon Frises are a few examples of these types of dogs.

Herding Dogs

Herding dogs were first bred to herd animals. They have high levels of agility and stamina. These dogs are the types that are able to control movements of even large animals like deer, sheep and cattle. They are very smart and active. Thus, without giving them enough exercise or metal stimulation, these types easily become bored.

These Herding dogs respond well in trainings. They enjoy challenges especially those that involve high levels of activity. Herding dogs perform well when they are given tasks prior to some reward. German Shepherds, Shetland Sheepdogs, Australian Cattles and Border collies are just a few examples of the herding dogs.

Today, these dogs have been bred to tend to active tasks like rescue work, police work or tracking work.
