Puppy training is essential for proper development

Author: Luke Downing  //  Category: Puppy Training

If you want your puppy to grow into a good, well trained dog you need to concentrate on it’s development.  You simply cannot expect a dog to be well behaved when it doesn’t know how to.  And basically it all boils down to training them properly and making sure that you get them to do what they’re told…

When you set about training your puppy you need to establish a few ground rules.  The first rule must be that you are in charge and that your puppy does exactly as it is told.  Now your puppy doesn’t know what to do until you show it, so any form of discipline must be completely out of the question.  When your dog jumps up and you don’t want it to, you don’t hit it, you move away and when your dog sits and doesn’t jump up you tell it what a good dog it has been.  It’s all about rewarding good behaviour and ignorning bad behaviour.  If you can do this then your dog will develop into a good dog in no time at all.

Remember that the seeds of a good a dog begin as a puppy.  If you don’t train your puppy then you won’t get a good dog.

Puppy Training – Taking Control

If you have been following my blog posts on training you will already have worked out that the emphasis of my advice is on establishing a pecking order in your family, much the same as a dog would naturally do in the wild.  After all, a dog is an animal with animal instincts, and it’s much easier to train a puppy to grow into a dog that does what you want if you use the innate senses they were born with to help you… Read more…
